About Western State Pullers
This group of pullers have been pulling in AZ for as long as 17 years around the Willcox area. Due to the passing of one of the major partners in the original organization, it was decided that this was a good opportunity to reorganize and work toward a professional organization dedicated to providing quality pulling events in the Southwest.
Tractor Pulling covers a wide range of equipment and classes, from stock antique tractors nearly 100 years old, to ultra-modern multi engine modified tractors that may even be powered by piston aircraft engines or jet turbine engines, and costing hundreds of thousands of dollars. These pulling vehicles all have the same goal, pull the “Sled” or weight transfer machine as far as possible.
The “Sled” or weight transfer machine is a heavy piece of specialized equipment which gradually increases the resistance against the pulling vehicle by transferring weight from rolling wheels to a steel skid pan sliding on the track surface. This transfer of weight is done with gear drives moving a traveling weight box forward in relation to the distance the “sled” travels forward. In simple terms, the farther the “sled” moves forward, the more difficult it becomes to pull the “sled”.
WSP can provide Promotors, Cities, Counties, Fair boards, Private Entities, and other Organizations with quality entertainment at reasonable costs.
WSP has focused on the more affordable pulling tractor classes, including the antiques, mini-rods, economy modified single engine tractors, and higher horsepower single engine modified tractors, stock and modified 4 wheel drive pickups, jeeps mud boggers, and rock crawlers.
While we normally don’t provide the larger multi engine classes, as commonly seen on television, we have the contacts to bring in these types of competitors and the large Pulling Sleds to handle them, but as can be expected this level of entertainment has a higher cost associated with it.
WSP programs are flexible enough to provide a range of event sizes meeting the Promoting Entities needs. This may include lower cost one day events utilizing WSP Member Pullers from Arizona and local stock pickup pullers, multi day events with expanded group of pullers from other states/groups, to major events with nationally known competitors.
